  1. 01.Air Management

Investments in air pollution prevention facilities (Selective Catalytic Reduction, Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction, desulfurization facilities, etc.) have maintained air pollution levels below our internal standards. In addition, a Tele-Monitoring System was installed at major outlets for the real-time monitoring of concentrations of pollutant emissions. We operate direct combustion facilities (flare stack, Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer), in order to reduce odors and volatile organic compounds. Regular odor inspections are carried out to establish a ‘zero odor’ plant.

  2. 02. Water Quality Management

LOTTE Fine Chemical treats wastewater from each plant at our epichlorohydrin treatment facility, and then sends it to a municipal sewage treatment center. We set a wastewater reduction target for each major source of wastewater generation, and make improvements to processes that can reuse wastewater. To prevent and manage accidents in case of emergencies, up-flow prevention valves have been set up in a rainwater reservoir, so rainwater can be sent to the wastewater treatment facility to prevent environmental accidents.

  3. 03. Management of Hazardous Chemicals

There is a comprehensive management system in place for hazardous chemicals, from their arrival at our sites through to disposal. Hazardous chemicals used in the workplace are strictly handled in production, purchase, and use. In addition, new chemicals can be used only after approval. We comply with all chemicals regulations in Korea and abroad. Chemicals release investigations, such as Toxics Release Inventory, are conducted in the event of a release of hazardous chemicals, leading to continuing reductions in the amount of hazardous chemicals used.

  4. 04. Reuse of Pollutants

Organic by-products are replacing chemicals (methanol) at sewage treatment plants, and waste acids generated in our industrial processes are reused as neutralizing chemicals.
